Tour de France Champion Perico Delgado to Ride the 2026 Gran Fondo Vitoria

Legendary cyclist Pedro “Perico” Delgado, winner of the 1988 Tour de France and two-time La Vuelta a España champion, will take part in the upcoming Gran Fondo Vitoria on June 20. The celebrated Spanish rider will join hundreds of enthusiasts on the start line at Mendizorrotza, sharing the road and the spirit of cycling with fans from across the region.

Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain — June 2026 — The event offers two distinct routes designed for varying levels of challenge. The Gran Fondo, covering 207 kilometres, stands as the longest route in the Basque Country and one of northern Spain’s premier endurance tests. The Medio Fondo, at 100 kilometres, provides a more accessible option for riders seeking to experience the event’s atmosphere without tackling the full distance. The start is scheduled for 08:00 a.m. from Mendizorrotza.

With just over two weeks remaining, preparations are in their final phase and registrations are nearly full — fewer than 40 places remain. The registration deadline is June 14, or until all slots are filled. Non-federated participants will be required to pay a €7 accident-insurance fee.

Beyond the sporting challenge, registered riders will enjoy a full suite of participant services, including an official event jersey, feed zones, mechanical assistance, showers, and changing facilities. The day will conclude with a post-ride meal at Mendizorrotza Stadium, celebrating the camaraderie and endurance that define the Gran Fondo Vitoria.
