2026 Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria Results: Simms and Fowler Shine

Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria delivered another huge day of racing in 2026, with more than a thousand riders pouring through the Inner Harbour under perfect summer skies. The event, now in its fifteenth year, has become one of Canada’s most iconic mass-participation rides, offering distances from the full 160km Gran Fondo to the family-friendly 30km route.

2026 Ryder Hesjedal’s Tour de Victoria Results: Simms and Fowler Shine

Hesjedal, who is 45, became the first Canadian to win a Grand Tour at the 3,500-kilometre Giro d’Italia in 2012. Now, he and Tour de Victoria director Seamus McGrath, 50 — who has cycled in both the Olympics and the Commonwealth Games — encourage everyone to celebrate with them the joy of cycling and the beauty of southern Vancouver Island.

Almost 2,000 people from all over North America signed up for this year’s event.

Victoria’s rolling terrain, coastal views and tightly-run traffic control once again set the stage for fast times and standout performances across every category.

The 160km Gran Fondo produced two of the day’s headline rides. Nathan Fowler edged Robert Britton by a single second in a dramatic sprint finish, while Kyle Fry completed the podium after a hard chase over the final climbs. In the women’s Gran Fondo, Hannah Simms was untouchable, riding clear of the field and finishing more than half a minute ahead of Emma Jean Neal, with Evelina Michniak securing third after a strong solo effort.

The 140km Medio Fondo saw a rare dead-heat at the line, with Brett Boniface and Ian Hendry sharing the top step after matching each other pedal stroke for pedal stroke. Vinko Poldrugovac claimed third, rounding out an all-Victoria men’s podium. The women’s Medio Fondo delivered its own three-way tie, with Erika Reiser, Tania Percy and Leslie Wicholas all stopping the clock together before the gaps opened behind them.

The 100km Piccolo Fondo was defined by one of the tightest men’s podiums of the entire event. Alex Hann, Diego Dubiginski and Ethan Swain finished within three seconds of each other, a rare sight in a ride of this length. Melanie McQuaid dominated the women’s field with a blistering sub-3-hour ride, followed by Annalise Meyers and Katerina Rosenflanz.

In the 80km category, Alex Diotte set the benchmark early and never looked back, while James Wilkinson and Alex Scotti completed the men’s podium. Mila Ludwig delivered one of the day’s most impressive junior performances, winning the women’s 80km outright and holding off Katharine Frazier and Jordan Lothrop.

The 60km route saw Andrew Leyne take a commanding win ahead of Greg Hill and Bruce MacDonald, while Erin Lewyk topped the women’s field with a smooth, controlled ride. Tessa Crofton and Angelina Landry rounded out the top three.

The 45km event produced a powerful ride from Ron McKenzie, who led from the front to secure the men’s win ahead of Harley Preston and Matt Ribeiro. Louisa Cole took the women’s victory with a narrow margin over Piah Niez, with Kiara Driechel completing the podium.

The 30km Fun Ride brought out a mix of rising juniors and recreational riders. Imogen Black delivered one of the standout rides of the entire day, winning the overall and the women’s category with a sub-hour time. Amirali Baniasadi topped the men’s field, followed closely by Eric Rowe and Nathan Smith.
