2018 Granfondo Denmark moves to Grindsted
Scheduled on the weekend of 23-24 June, Granfondo Denmark moves its start and finish this year to the city of Grindsted in the middle of the mainland and close to the international airport of Billund
The Gran Fondo Denmark 2018 route begins in the center of Grinsted and runs southeast to Hegnsvig and on to Vorbasse. The first 40km are mainly run on smaller roads and some well-known climbs such as Blue Horse and Tørskind Hill.
The main difficulty is the section between kilometer 90 to 105 when the riders cross Østengård - the notorious climb from the Tour of Denmark - and shortly after the cobblestone section at Hopballe. The last part is again on main roads before the finish in the heart of Grindsted - a total of 177 km and 1179 meters of elevation.
The Medio Fondo uses the same route but makes a shortcut halfway to finish after 119km.
On Saturday, a 28km time trial on mainly flat and windy roads will test the power of the time trial specialists.
The top 25 % in each age group of the qualifier events will automatically have the right to compete in the UWCT Final and race for the coveted UCI rainbow jersey.
Just about everyone has the opportunity to participate. Age groups from 16-19 yrs up to 65+.
Participants from 30 different countries.
