Spritz and Sophocles fastest at Oregon's Gorgeous Gorge Gravel
Over 1,000 riders enjoyed Gorge Gravel, one of Utah's Premier Gravel Rides & Race last weekend!
Gorge Gravel was the perfect early spring event for everyone testing their fitness coming out of the winter with beautiful views post-ride celebration based in Oregon's gem of gravel, Dufur with amazing RV and Tent camping in the City Park.
Saturday pre-race celebrations in the park included shake-out rides, packet pickup, fun games, music, Castelli Cornhole Tournament, Fat Tire Beer Bar, and BBQ supporting the local community of Dufur through the Ranger Pride Foundation.

On Sunday, it was a very close race in the men's Elite race on the Big Gravel course with Aris Sophocles outsprinting Allan Schroeder and Mark Laughery in a time of 4:52:41 from the breakaway with a group of riders chasing behind. The Trio managed an average of 19 mph over the 97 miles course with over 8,400 feet of climbing.
In the women's race, Chloë Spritz was fastest in a time of 5:25:10 soloing to the finish, with Rebecca Fahringer in second 28:07 behind and Becca Book 35:36 behind. Chloë averaged 17 mph on her own.

On the 66 miles Medium course with 5,310 feet of climbing, Robert Tornai (POA Racing) attacked solo to the finish in 3:22:43 ahead of Brian Schaning (Castellis Multisport) 13:42 behind in second and Kyle Wuepper (Webcyclery.com) in third 14:47 behind.

In the women's Medium race, Shantel Engerran (Valkyr Cycling) was fastest in a time of 4:06:36, ahead of Laura Rosema 3:44 behind in second place and Sally Moore (Breakfast Racing Team) 3:47 behind in third place.

In the Non-Binary Medium race, Scott Cummings was fastest in 4:40:38 ahead of Cade Spritz (Fast Fun Nice Racing p/b Steeplejack) 48:42 behind in second and Roger Alvis 1:21:41 in third place.
Even the Small ride of 47 miles and 3,588 feet was no mean feat! In the men's race, Chris Clark outsprinted Michael Brown in a time of 2:22:07 with Jonathan Rieman 6:18 behind in third place.
In the women's race, Juliet Hochman (Team Finger) soloed to the finish in 2:28:43.0ahead of Jaime Clark 12:06 behind in second and Julie Verke (TNT) in third place +17:16 behind.
In the non-Binary race, Laurie Kemmerer (Trusty Switchblade ) was first in a time of 3:26:37.3 ahead of Mac Capizzi 15:10 behind in second and CJ Christensen (Christensen Architects) 32:43 behind in third place.
Dozens of riders enjoyed one of six pace groups for all rider levels, with four groups at Small Gravel and two at Medium Gravel headed by experienced ride ambassadors to make their experience an enjoyable and socialable day out.
Afterwards, everyone celebrated in the City Park with a post-ride meal, pint glass and beverages and the Awards ceremonies.
