600 cyclists soaked up the natural beauty of the Cascades in the Central Oregon Highlands last weekend

Farlinger and Ritzow take Victory at 2025 Cascade Gravel

One of the most scenic and diverse gravel events in the country, Cascade Gravel provided amazing rides through the Central Oregon high desert and Cascade Mountain Range.

There were three distances on offer to accommodate everyone from novice cyclists to seasoned pros. Participants can choose from the 41-mile Small Gravel, the 60-mile Medium Gravel, or the 89-mile Big Gravel

Hosted by Breakaway Promotions, the premier gravel cycling event delivered on scenic routes, challenging terrain, and an unforgettable post-ride celebration. Out on course there were well-stocked aid stations and mechanical support available.

The post-ride festivities were held at Village Green Park in Sisters, where riders relaxed at the Lightstrike/New Belgium Post-Ride Celebration. Riders enjoyed delicious catered lunch by Spin Catering, music, a beer garden, and a variety of entertainment to celebrate.

Riders also received, a commemorative T-shirt, a pint glass, a Cascade Gravel badge for their efforts.

In the Big Gravel Elite women’s field, Rebecca Farlinger was fastest in a time of 5:53:13 ahead of Gina Serantoni (High Desert Hustle) in second and Amelia Shankwitz (Bauerhaus-Hyperthreads) in third place.

Overall at Big Gravel, Max Ritzow (Expeditors) was fastest in a time of 4:57:46 an average of 17.5 mph, ahead of Allan Schroeder (High Desert Hustle) in second and Jacob Lippert in third place. Kylee Rood was the fastest non-binary rider in a time of 7:26:52.

In the Medium Gravel women’s field it was a tight finish with Annick Chalier (Mountain View Cycles) finishing in a time of 4:31:03, just ahead of Kerri Russell (Gothic Health Clud) in second and Kristin Wolf I third place.

Overall at Medium Gravel, Nick North (NorthFIT Coaching) was fastest in a time of 3:35:02 , ahead of Scott Seaton (Hutch’s/BendDental) in second and Anthony Brantley in third place. Liam Bielat (University of Oregon Cycling) was fastest in the non-binary category.

Out on course there were well-stocked aid stations and mechanical support available.

In the Small Grinder women’s category, Juliet Hochman (Team Finger) was fastest in a time of 2:46:37, ahead of Marcella Canelo in second and Paige Jackson in third place.s

Overall at the Small Grinder Samuel Greydanus (Team Oregon p/b Rodda Paint) was fastest in a time of 2:29:40, ahead of Forest Hietpas (ACT) in second and Edward Dudlik (Dialed Cycling Team) in third place.

Laurie Kemmerer (Trusty Switchblade) was fastest in the non-binary category in a time of 3:36:12         .
