Stephen Hyde wins U.S. Cyclo-Cross Championship

Cannondale Pro rider Stephen Hyde pulled on the Stars and Stripes jersey after winning on the Frozen and Muddy course in Hartford, Connecticut.

Hyde dramatically lost his rear derailleur before the last bend and had to run to the finish, with Driscoll chasing.

This year saw one of the toughest courses, after 8 inches of snow fell overnight. With the previous races including the mens Junior and womens Elite already taken place, there were several crashes, especially on Bonk Breaker hill which was either ice or mud.

Favourite Jeremy Powers suffered a terrible first lap and never got back into contention.
