New venue announced for 4th annual Dragon Tour

Tackle the Black Mountains with a spectacular three-day cycling challenge

Born from the famous Dragon Ride L’Etape Wales by Le Tour de France, the Dragon Tour offers two or three days of spectacular stage riding. In 2018, the Dragon Tour will take place from brand new venue, the Glanusk Estate in the heart of the Brecon Beacons in South Wales.

The Glanusk Estate is regularly used as a backdrop for TV shows including Top Gear, and this new site sets a dramatic scene for a long weekend of technically challenging cycling. An exclusive group of 750 riders will explore some of the UK’s finest and quietest roads, tackling 100km-140km per day, and between 300km - 500km over the three-day period.

Nick Rusling, CEO of Dragon Tour organiser, Human Race, says; “This new site is a fantastic development for the Dragon Tour, allowing riders to start and finish in incredible cycling territory. No hectic towns or cities to navigate, just uninterrupted, beautiful cycling, which is what our riders visit Wales to enjoy.”

Dragon Tour riders can expect fully mapped and sign-posted open road routes with feed stations, medical support, sweep vehicle, motorcycle marshals, a free Dragon Tour memento, and chip timing.

Day three of the Dragon Tour merges with the Dragon Ride L’Etape Wales; the most challenging one day sportive in the UK; tackling famous climbs of The Bwlych, Devil’s Elbow and Devil’s Staircase.

Also new for 2018, the après-cycle programme is receiving an exciting revamp, with added evening activities to build camaraderie amongst this group of hardy riders. Following a free post-ride massage, evenings will provide an opportunity to socialise with prize giving for the day’s events and a cycling themed pub quiz.

Suitable for clubs and groups, or for solo cyclists looking to meet new riders, the Dragon Tour offers fantastic value for money, with prices for the 2-day starting at £100 and the 3-day ride starting at just £130. Local accommodation options are also available in partnership with Sportive Breaks.
