Rally Cycling One - Two on stage four of the Tour of California

Evan Huffman from Rally Cycling won stage 4 ahead of team mate Rob Britton after a long breakaway

Six riders went away on stage four;  Martin Elmiger (BMC), Rob Britton and Evan Huffman (Rally), Gavin Mannion (UnitedHealthcare), Lennard Hofstede (Team Sunweb), and Athias Le Turnier (Cofidis).

The breakaway of five riders descended the Ojai Summit, with a gap of around 8 mins

The break was down to five riders and had a lead of 6 minutes with 35 miles to go.

The final 25 miles were a gradual uphill all the way in to Santa Clarita and the peloton started to chase, the lead was down to 3m 50 secs.

Quick-Step Floors and Katusha cam to the front and did some massive turns to try and bring the break back, behind riders were desperately try to hang on.

Andrew Talansky was the first to be seen off the back with a problem but was brought back by taylor Phinney.

With 5 miles to go the gap was down to 1m 30 seconds, Brent Bookwalter in the team cars and looks to have suffered a puncture.

The whole Quick-Step and Katusha squads were lined out doing 60 kph try to chase the break down for the final sprint.

However it wasn't enough and with 200 metres to go Evan Huffman (Rally) opened up a small gap on his breakaway companions and started to wind up for the sprint. Rob Britton (Rally) asat on the chasers and came round them to make it a One-Two for Rally Cycling.

Peter Sagan held onto the leaders jersey.

American's Ian Boswell (Team Sky) and Brent Bookwalter (BMC Racing) lie in 3rd and 6th respectively.

Tomorrow's stage five is one not to be missed and will see some epic racing up the slopes of Mount Baldy.
