Tour de Poway - Nick Venuto Century

The 29th annual Tour de Poway is a unique north San Diego County bike ride that offers some of the most scenic sights in southern California. From the remote back country ranches and avocado groves to the ocean. Several well stocked aids stations along the course and a great BBQ & beer garden at the finish.

100 Mile (Century) Ride begins by climbing the Poway grade into Ramona follwed by a great 7 mile downhill on highway 78 with a scenic ride down the coast. The course features five well stocked aid stations with a total of 4500 ft of climbing. Most of the climbing is in the first 30 miles of the ride. East bound lane of the Poway Grade will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7:00am-9:00am.

62 Mile (Metric Century)and the 50 Mile cousres begin the same as the 102 mile course into Ramona with a 7 mile downhill on highway 78 and returns back through Rancho Bernardo over the new stress ribbon bicycle bridge over lake Hodges. The 64 mile course includes 3,000 feet of climbing with three aid stations and the 50 mile mile course has 2,500 feet of climbing with 2 aid stations.

24 Mile and the 18 Mile courses travel through north Poway and the Bernardo Winery. The 26 mile proceeds into Rancho Bernardo before heading back to Poway. The 26 mile route includes 1200 ft of climbing with 2 aid stations. The 18 mile couses includes 500 feet of climbing with one aid station at the Bernardo Winery.

East bound lane of Poway Road grade will be closed to motor vehicles from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Riders will need to show ride bib or wrist band at start of climb. Longer courses are not recommended for children under 16. Course support ends at 5:00 PM.

The century course is dedicated to Nick Venuto a Poway cyclists who was killed while riding his bike home from work on May 31st 2011.

Day of registration begins at 6:00 AM
7:00 AM- 100 mile start
7:30 AM- 62 & 50 mile start
9:30 AM- 26 & 18 mile start

Parking:
Around the park is limited and it will fill up quickly. Kiwanis volunteers will be directing parking on the morning of the ride and additional parking may be available at the Walmart and Office Depot shopping centers less than a mile from the start.
