2018 Haute Route North America

Killarney Bike Classic

Killarney Bike Classic

September 16 2018
Narrabri, NSW, Australia

ome and experience the thrill of bike riding/cycling down Killarney Gap, not to mention the spectacular scenery on the way. Enjoy riding with your friends and making new friends in the pristine fresh air of North West New South Wales.

The Killarney Bike Classic started six years ago to raise funds for our local Cancer charities and also a way to remember a local farmer and grazier, Mark Lampe who rode from Killarney Gap to Sawn Rocks with a group of friends for an Easter get together with their families. Less than three months later, Mark lost his short battle with cancer. Mark grew up in Narrabri and loved the district. He would be so proud of the effort and support from so many people that will help make other families lives a little bit easier when they have to face the battle with cancer.

The bike ride is a celebration of life offering a fun, yet physically challenging event that appeals to many people. This ride has become more popular every year. 2012 and 2013 attracted 160 riders and their support crews and we expect 2014 event to be bigger, with riders from Moree, Gunnedah, Sydney, Molong, Young, Coonabarabran and Bingara. The Narrabri Tourist Information Centre believes this event is a major attraction for the Narrabri community and they have put their full support behind it.
