Bicycling Fall Classic presented by Specialized

Bicycling Fall Classic presented by Specialized

October 01 2017
trexlertown, Pennsylvania, USA

This will be our seventh year as the largest mass-participatory ride in Pennsylvania, attracting about 1,500 riders to our 10-, 25-, 50-, and 90-mile routes. We also hold the distinction of being the only fondo in the US that features a Roubaix-style finish on a velodrome.

Our event started in 2011 as a chance for Bicycling's readers to connect with our editors and enjoy some of our favorite roads. Riders at our event get to take in sprawling farms, dense woods, covered bridges, Amish buggies, flowing rolling hills, screaming descents, and steep climbs. All riders are supported by numerous rest stops, and our staff of motorcycle marshals and other roving support ensures that everyone has a great day.

Following the ride, we welcome riders to join us for lunch from gourmet food trucks, beers, and a massage at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center — home of the Trexlertown Velodrome.

We also partner with VeloFest, the largest cycling swap meet on the East Coast — riders attending packet pickup on the day before our ride gain free entry to the swap meet.

This year, we are offering a shake-out ride and happy hour on the day before our ride, for anyone who wants to spin their legs out, spend more time with our editors, and have a few more beers on us.

Packet Pickups

There is plenty of parking at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center, across the street at the Rodale Fitness Park, and in the adjacent field. Plan on arriving at least one hour prior to your scheduled start, so you have time to pick up your registration packet, pin your bib number, affix your timing chip, and stock up on ride food from our sponsors.

Beat the early morning lines on event day by visiting the Bicycling Fall Classic tent directly outside the main entrance to the Valley Preferred Cycling Center during VeloFest on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The velodrome is located at 1151 Mosser Road, Breinigsville, PA, 18031. All riders who collect their packet on Saturday will receive a wristband for complimentary entry to VeloFest, the nation’s largest cycling flea market.

If you prefer to wait until event day to sign in, please plan to arrive during the registration period for the route you are riding:

90 miles: 6:00–8:00 a.m. (ride departs at 8:00 a.m.)
50 miles: 7:00–9:00 a.m. (ride departs at 9:00 a.m.)

Prize / Race Categories

The Bicycling Fall Classic is not a race; it’s a chance to enjoy some of the best roads in the country while riding with friends — and making new ones. For those with a competitive bent, the 50- and 90-mile routes feature timed climbing sections (KOM/QOMs). The 50-mile route has two, and the 90-mile route has three; the fastest men and women will be awarded prizes from Specialized. Prizes will be announced.
