Fondo Clermont visits Florida's Favorite Sugarloaf Mountain this October

Just a 25-minute drive from Orlando, Clermont and surrounding Lake County is home to fantastic cycling, gently rolling hills and over 1,000 pristine lakes and rivers. It’s the epicenter of the Florida cycling scene and features nearby Sugarloaf Mountain, the highest point on the Florida Peninsula at 312 feet. It’s no surprise that this Central Florida cycling mecca is on every rider’s bucket list.

This year’s event moves to October 13 when temperatures in Central Florida begin to cool down. The start and finish is at downtown Clermont’s new Victory Pointe on Lake Minneola. The 30, 50 and 75 mile routes are all cleverly designed to offer a superb day’s riding and cater to cyclists of all abilities. Each distance includes a climb up Sugarloaf Mountain with its 200 feet of climbing and inclines up to 16%. Who said Florida was flat?!?

The event culminates with a food truck & craft beer festival with live music. While in Clermont, spend an afternoon at Lakeridge Winery, the largest premium winery in Florida, visit one of Lake County’s many historic downtowns or enjoy one of the many theme parks in nearby Orlando.

Each cyclist will receive a t-shirt, sling bag, water bottle, tickets to the food trucks and craft beer, plus other amenities. The ride includes start-to-finish chip timing, including the timed KOM sections, a police-controlled start, fully stocked rest stops and on-course mechanical support. All cyclists who complete the Fondo will receive a finisher medal!

About the Gran Fondo

At 75 miles, the Gran Fondo contains a surprising 2,468 feet of climbing with lots of rolling hills and a handful of great ascents. For the experienced rider, the Gran will be a true climbing challenge on quiet, well-paved roads. It boasts five rest stops that allow you to rehydrate and refuel during your ride.

About the Medio Fondo

The Medio Fondo is 50 miles and contains 1,908 feet of climbing. With two timed KOM sections, the Medio is best suited for experienced and intermediate cyclists. Along the way, its three rest stops will allow you to rehydrate and refuel.

About the Piccolo Fondo

The Piccolo Fondo, at 30 miles in length, contains 1,648 feet of climbing and two timed KOM sections. While the distance is designed for beginner riders, even experienced riders will find the Piccolo to be a challenge. It has two fully stocked rest stops that allow you to rehydrate and refuel halfway along the route.
