TOUR Transalp 2026 leads from East Tyrol to Lake Garda

The route of the TOUR Transalp 2026 (21-27 June) has been finalized. Seven spectacular stages will lead from Lienz to Riva del Garda. At first glance, the route doesn't seem entirely new, but this impression is deceptive: an explosive new mix of routes is planned for 2026, with some firsts that will make the eyes of even the old Transalp hands sparkle. Registration is open, the number of participants is limited

TOUR Transalp 2026 leads from East Tyrol to Lake Garda

The route of a seven-day Transalp always has something of a monumental composition about it. In 2026, road cyclists will once again be able to experience an exciting mix of driving rock'n'roll, pounding beats, solemn symphonic interludes and chilled sounds. When your heart starts to pound on the climbs, not only because the air gets thinner and the roads steeper, but also because the epic landscape up there amid the mighty mountains takes your breath away with its sheer beauty.

‘The change in cultural landscapes, architecture, typical dishes – arriving at a different place every day in a completely different world. That's the TOUR Transalp,’ says route director Marc Schneider, summing up the character of this unique race for everyone.

The 22nd edition of the classic road bike race covers 750 challenging kilometres and more than 17,000 metres of elevation through the Alps, starting in Lienz (East Tyrol) in 2026. From there, it continues via Sillian, Flacade, San Martino di Castrozza, Possagno and Semonzo (Monte Grappa) to Lavarone and from there to the grand finale in Riva del Garda – many sections are familiar from the Transalp, but it is still a new combination. This fresh Dolomite trip has been made possible by the fact that Falcade is finally once again a stage location for the TOUR Transalp after 14 years, beautifully situated in a sunny high valley at the foot of the Passo Valles and the Pale di San Martino. The secondreason is that the small Italian town of Possagno at the foot of Monte Grappa, which was already planned for the cancelled 2020 edition, can now finally celebrate its premiere as a stage location and also wants to score points with a very special finish.

The new locations open up new possibilities and not just boring connecting pieces, but real highlights that will be part of the TOUR Transalp for the first time. Even the Dolomites, one of the living rooms of this stage marathon, still know how to surprise with completely new passes. The combination of Passo Staulanza and Passo Duran, two sparkling Dolomite gems, is brand new to the Transalp programme; just four weeks earlier, these two passes are part of the 19th stage of the Giro d'Italia.

Monte Grappa, which has been an integral part of the eastern route for many years, also has an extravagant panoramic road to offer that has never been ridden as part of the TOUR Transalp. It is probably even the best panoramic road on this mountain. Further down, following in the footsteps of ‘Prosecco Cycling’ around Valdobbiadine, there are a few more enchanting vineyard roads that are really fun to ride. The Staller Sattel, probably the most beautiful border crossing from East Tyrol to South Tyrol, is only in the

programme for the second time, and combined with a few absolute Transalp classics such as the Passo Rolle, the Passo Giau, the extraordinary Transalp climb through the Valstagna, and the atmospheric finish in the harbour of Riva del Garda, this makes for a spectacular mix that is worthy of a TOUR Transalp in every respect.

Registration is now open. The basic package is available for €1,299, and the premium package for €1,799. Participants under the age of 23 can benefit from a discount of €450 (U23 package), but this offer is limited to 25 starting places. In addition, in 2026 it will once again be possible to compete in the TOUR Transalp as a 3- or 4-day challenge – allowing participants to test their limits in an extra classification, ride unique passes and be part of hundreds of road cycling enthusiasts from all over the world riding together across the Alps. The 3-day challenge will run from 21 to 23 June, and the 4-day challenge from 24 to 27 June 2026.
