Team Sky Dilemma: Thomas confirms focus on Tour de France Title
Troubled times ahead for Team Sky as Geraint Thomas confirms his focus is winning a second consecutive Tour de France title
"I definitely feel there's unfinished business at the Giro d'Italia, but next year might be the wrong time," Thomas said to the UK press.
"Being at the Tour with number one on my back, it would be a shame to know I wouldn't be at my best, so I'm definitely leaning more towards that."
In a turbulent year, Chris Froome won the 2018 Giro d'Italia after an amazing attack on the slopes of the Col du Finestre, riding away from his rivals. But he suffered in the Tour, he was initially the leader, but Thomas took over, as he forged ahead to take the yellow jersey at the 2018 Tour de France
"Obviously Froomey wants to go back to the Tour and win his fifth, which would be a record.” said Thomas.
Thomas is due to fly to Los Angeles over the New Year for a personal training camp "I've been back training for two weeks now and I'm starting to feel like a bike rider again, the first week was tough going but it's nice to be back in one place, a bit of routine and back on the regime with the diet. I'm about three weeks behind everyone at the moment so it's a bit of a grind but I'm sure I'll get there."
Team Sky face a dilemma in who fills that position next year.
