Can Primoz Roglic bounce back and win Fourth Vuelta Victory?
Roglic returned to training this week, a month after a Tour de France crash damaged his shoulder and back and forced him to abandon for a second year in a row
Primoz Roglic is back on his bike and training for La Vuelta in the hills around Monaco.
He faces stiff competition with the likes of Richard Carapaz, Simon Yates, Remco Evenepoel, and Giro d’Italia champion Jai Hindley amoung favorites for the 2022 La Vuelta which starts on August 19th in the Netherlands.
Jumbo-Visma has centered its Vuelta strategy around the Slovenian star’s GC ambitions for the past three seasons.
Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard is on extended vacation and Tom Dumoulin is unlikely to race in Spain as he retires.
Jumbo-Visma hasn’t confirmed its full Vuelta roster yet, Rohan Dennis, and Robert Gesink are rumoured to be on the list.
Sepp Kuss has been confirmed to ride for the team at the Tour of Spain, which includes nine high-altitude finishes, five of which will feature for the first time, seven mountain stages, eight summit finishes, six flat stages and two time trials and a return to Madrid.
Kuss finished in the Vuelta top-10 last year and shepherded Roglic to his third straight title. Jumbo-Visma's best domestique has been training heavily in the Andorran mountains this week prepping for his fifth-straight Vuelta participation.
