The Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge – New Zealand’s greatest cycling event – is all go for November this year, celebrating its 48th running on Saturday 28 November 2026.

As well as the iconic Shimano Round The Lake (approx. 160km) road category, there's also the 2 lap Enduro (approx. 320km), the Independent Traffic Control Length Of The Lake (approx. 55km), and the Great Lake 100 (approx. 100km) road categories.

As well as our awesome road options, there’s three mountain bike choices as well, the traditional Huka Steamer (approx. 60km), Huka Teaser (approx. 30km) MTB events, and newly introduced in 2024, the Tineli Huka Hundy (approx. 100km), all taking place on fantastic pumice based tracks in the centre of the North Island.

No matter what type of riding you’re into, there’s an option for anyone to be part of one of New Zealand’s largest cycling occasions, whether it’s one of the road or mountain bike categories, or the Gravel Grind (approx. 83km) which continues to be a popular choice since its inception in 2022.

With a philosophy of inclusion, the Lake Taupo Cycle Challenge also offers the family friendly Lakesider (approx. 16km) truly providing a wide variety of options to get on your bike and be part of the annual pilgrimage to one of New Zealand’s longest and most established events.

Whether you’re a roadie, a mountain biker, a gravel junkie or just looking for a recreational ride with the family, we’ve got something that’ll tick the box for you.

Come Join Us In November.
