Richeze wins stage and Mollema conquers Vuelta a San Juan

The Quick-Step Floors team won five of the seven stages in the Vuelta a San Juan. On the final day, the Argentinean Maximiliano Richeze grabbed the second consecutive victory and the Dutchman Bauke Mollema (Trek-Segafredo) won the race's 35th edition

In the image of the previous day, the last stage was shortened from the initial 138.2 km to 122 km, due to the temperature surpassing 40ºC. With two of the seven laps completed at the circuit in San Juan, Vincenzo Nibali (Bahrain-Merida) and Argentines Juan Pablo Dotti and Gonzalo Najar (SEP San Juan) fled the pack to try their luck on the final day. The effort and tune of the fledgling trio lasted until the last lap, with Nibali being the toughest.

When an end to the sprint was foreseen, between the last attempts to escape to the platoon appeared the strong attack of the winner of the previous day. Maximiliano Richeze was still far from the goal towards another triumph, which seemed inglorious in view of the speed of the persecution of the great group. But the Argentine did not give up and, with the squad on his heels, he raised his arms for another victory in the Vuelta a San Juan.

Franco Lopez (ACV Fatima) won the KOM mountains and team mate Nicolás Naranjo won the Sprinter's Jersey, Egan Arley Bernal (Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec won the Under-23. The Bahrain-Merida team won in the group.
