Calistoga Speedway to Switch from Cars to Bicycles for One Amazing Night in April

Chef Chris Cosentino’s CampoVelo to Host “Saturday Night at the Speedway” April 28, 2018

Calistoga, CA (March 5, 2018) – Inspired by the cult-classic, coming of age film Breaking Away and Indiana University’s Little 500 race, CampoVelo is proud to announce “Saturday Night at the Speedway.” The feature event of the evening will be a team relay race around the half-mile track. Teams of four will send racers around the track, one at a time, in hopes of becoming the fastest team to get all four riders across the finish line. Instead of a baton to pass in the transition zone, riders will pass single-speed bikes. Prizes will be awarded for first, last, and most laughable! Proceeds from the event will help support the Napa Valley Vine Trail, a non- profit coalition dedicated to building a class 1 paved bike path from Calistoga to the Vallejo Ferry. To date, 19.5 miles have been constructed of the 47-mile plan.

Attendees can join a team or just come out and enjoy the action. No bike necessary. Detroit Bikes has provided their made-in-the-USA single-speed bikes for the race.

Some notable teams that have already formed are: High-Speed Chefs with chefs Chris Cosentino, Jeff Mahin, Bryan Voltaggio, and Michael Voltaggio and Pro Royalty, a mixed team of pro cyclists Ted King, Alison Tetrick, Yuri Hauswald, and Janel Holcomb. The ever- entertaining Bob Roll will be the emcee for the night, providing his special kind of color commentary for the races. Attendees are encouraged to join a team or form their own team of four for only $10 per rider.

Not riding? No problem. Enjoy the racing, live music featuring the sassy Oakland based band the T Sisters trio, and a fun evening outdoors featuring Napa Valley food trucks, wineries, and breweries.
