On the fence? Try the 55km Medio
The organisers of this epic event have stated that the Medio (55km) category is their favorite. Here’s why…
To begin with, it has a more relaxed start time: 9:15am to be precise, allowing riders to enjoy breakfast and have more time to wake up and feel good. It has a southbound protective speed-neutralized escort down the Sea-to-Sky highway and it even takes you through a unique route up the Whistler Olympic Park, where no views are matched.
Above all, the Medio is a standout category because it is the perfect way to get into cycling for so many different people. Not only is the Medio an achievable yet respected challenge, but it also lets families (including kids) ride together, meeting up with the other categories a short distance before the grand finish in the iconic mountain town of Whistler.
In addition to this, the Medio is e-bikes friendly. Even if they are not chip timed, having this option allows the category to welcome more people into cycling – and that’s only a good thing in our books.
Here are some details of the category:
Start & finish: Whistler Village
Start time: 9.15am
Package pickup: Vancouver Fri / Whistler Sat am
Rest stop: Whistler Olympic Park
