Registration opens for Colorado’s incredibly challenging “Double Triple Bypass” and Gran Fondo

The legendary Triple Bypass ride has brought back the big daddy of all rides, the “Double Triple Bypass” this July. 240 miles over two days and a QOM/KOM Gran Fondo competition. Are you up for it?

The 32nd edition of the annual bucket list belter, the Triple Bypass has just announced that it is bringing back the challenging two day “Double Triple Bypass”. Participants have the opportunity to ride 120 miles westbound from Evergreen to Avon (the Triple Bypass) on July 11th, on gorgeous (mostly) closed roads and paths, then get up the next day on Sunday July 12th and ride back to Evergreen in reverse. That’s 240 miles and over 20,000 feet of climbing!

The legendary Triple Bypass ride has brought back the big daddy of all rides, the “Double Triple Bypass” this July.

NEW this year is the Gran Fondo on the Sunday. The climbs of Vail Pass, Loveland Pass and Juniper Pass will be timed. There will be the QOM/KOM prizes for those with the fastest combined time. But remember, the race is really against yourself and the clock. Everyone will be a winner, however you can go for the fastest time, if you’re legs and lungs are feeling good! Eastbound from Avon to Evergreen is considered harder.

“Double Triple Bypass” participants receive a limited edition wind vest, timing on Sunday, all the Triple goodies and the admiration of your peers. Finishing the Double Triple Bypass” will give you Heroic bragging rights with your cycling friends and family forever.

NEW this year is the Gran Fondo on the Sunday. The climbs of Vail Pass, Loveland Pass and Juniper Pass will be timed.

The QOM/KOM competition starts with the 8.7 mile climb of Vail Pass which includes 1,919 feet of climbing on gradients of up to to 13% and tops out at a lung sapping 10,616 feet above sea level.

It doesn’t get any easier either, up next is the climb up Loveland Pass to 11,990 feet above sea level. Riders will climb 2,390 feet to the summit over 7.7 miles.

If that wasn’t enough, the final climb up Juniper Pass to 11,020 feet above sea level will include another 2,700 feet of climbing over 10.6 miles.

Altogether the Gran Fondo competition includes a challenging 7,009 feet of climbing over 27 miles. This ain’t no walk in the park!

In July, at 11,000 feet above sea level in the Rocky Mountains there’s snow on the mountains and at the side of the road all year round. If the scenery doesn’t take your breath away, the climbs certainly will.

Ride with thousands of other keen cyclists and snack yourself silly with five aid stations carefully placed along the way, safe in the knowledge when you reach the finish line there’s a catered feast and Expo waiting for you to recover and relax to!

Saturday rides include the Single Bypass of 40 miles, the Double Bypass of 75 miles and of course the well-known and well-loved 120 mile Triple Bypass.

For those who want to conquer the Triple Bypass and enter the QOM/KOM Gran Fondo competition, you’ll need to opt for the Sunday ride which will be timed.

The Triple Bypass is presented by Team Evergreen Cycling, largest and most charitable bike club in the state of Colorado. Through the proceeds of the Triple Bypass, TE has been able to donate $3 million to local non-profits. They give back to the groups that support them including Bicycle Colorado, Colorado Mountain Bike Association, Special Olympics, the Boy Scouts and dozens more.
