Omloop Het Nieuwsblad Cyclo is the Opening Classic Next Season

The 2019 Etixx Classics Tour kicks off with the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad Cyclo on Sunday March 3 2019, the traditional opener of the Spring Classics Season

For pros, the Omloop is the first real test of the season. In addition to the Pro race, thousands of amateur cyclists get the chance to ride the opening classic. For many cyclists this is a tough challenge after a ‘bikeless’ winter or a long period of riding on rollers.

Participants can choose between three different routes, so everybody’s pre season form is accomodated.

Finish In The Centre Of Ninove After A Thrilling Finale

The longest route of 130 km departs, just like the professional’s, at ‘t Kuipke in Ghent. The finish line has been relocated from Meerbeke to the centre of Ninove. With five cobbled sections and nine tough ascents the riders will soon be able to evaluate their early season form.

The riders will have to face the route as the professionals. The biggest challenges being; the Molenberg, Muur van Geraardsbergen and Bosberg, with passages over ‘de Jagerij’ and ‘de Haaghoek’.

Too many ascents for you, but you still want to experience the OHN finale to the fullest?

The shortest 65 km route with 3 ascents or the medium route of 90 km with 7 ascents maybe perfect for you.

Both races start in Ninove.

All participants, like the pros, will finish the race in the heart of Ninove, after the passages of the Muur van Geraardsbergen and the Bosberg, the day after the professionals race.
