Gran Fondo World Tour ® landing in France with a new destination in August 2020
The Cycl’Aigoual Région Occitanie Challenge
Cycl’Aigoual Region Occitanie, in its 21st year, will offer on Saturday August 29 two courses, 95KM and 130 KM departing from Espérou as well as a hike event from Vigan. The last 50KM of both bike courses will follow the 6th stage of the Tour de France (which is set to take place on September 3) from Sumène until the arrival at the summit of Mont Aigoual, via Le Vigan and the dreaded Col de la Luzette (with passages over 15%).
Both of the August 29 courses will be part of the Gran Fondo World Tour.
A hike Le Vigan-Sommet du Mont Aigoual via the Col de la Luzette - the "Grimpe Luzette" - will also be offered to cyclists from 14 years old. The following day on August 30 will be the 32nd edition of the Vice Dean of French mountain bike events, which will host the Occitania championships in competition for all ages, as well as VAE and hiking trails.
The Cycl’Aigoual Région Occitanie Challenge (Road + MTB) is a combination of Saturday's Road events and Sunday's MTB events.
"We are very happy to join the Gran Fondo World Tour for the first time and to become part of that community. We are looking forward to welcoming cyclists from all over to discover the beauty of Cévennes in Southern France, a region particularly suited for cycling lovers. Those who come will want to come back to the road."
