Klöser and Lowman Take Victory at UCI Hegau Gravel Race

The UCI Hegau Gravel Festival witnessed thrilling performances as Mathijs Loman (SWATT CLUB) and Rosa Klöser (CANYON-SRAM ZONDOCRYPTO) emerged victorious in their respective categories on Sunday, continuing their winning streak from the Eislek Gravel in Luxembourg just two weeks prior

In the women’s category, Rosa Klöser, 29, dominated the race,

The race kicked off from the picturesque town of Singen, featuring a challenging 108km route that tested the mettle of over 900 riders.

Hegau Gravel Festival in Singen is a new race in the TREK UCI Gravel World Series on a course that is a combination of a 33 and 52km loop, partially used for the 2017 UCI MTB marathon World Championships.

Mathijs Loman, 26, showcased his remarkable sprinting ability, crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 3:10:45. He outpaced last year's champion, Jonas Koch, in a nail-biting finish that left spectators on the edge of their seats. Felix Stehli rounded out the podium, finishing just 29 seconds behind Loman.

Despite narrowly missing out on the title, Koch expressed his satisfaction on social media, stating, "Had a blast racing at Gravel World Series Singen. Couldn’t repeat my win from last year, but happy with my second second place in this year's gravel campaign, especially after a crash early in the race." His resilience and sportsmanship highlighted the camaraderie and competitive spirit that define the gravel racing community.

In the women’s category, Rosa Klöser, 29, dominated the race, soloing to victory with a time of 3:33:18, finishing over seven minutes ahead of runner-up Sophie Wright. Marielle Trouwborst secured third place, crossing the line another five minutes later. Klöser’s commanding performance solidified her status as a formidable force in the gravel racing scene.

Rosa said afterwards, "Happy to take the win today at the UCI Gravel Series in Singen. I set a hard pace pretty much from the start to thin out the group and after 10km in the race, together with Nicole Louis and Marielle Trouwborst we managed to get a selection of 3 riders after a climb. After 20km on a grass climb I managed to get away and pushed hard all the way till the finish"

The UCI Hegau Gravel Race not only provided an exhilarating experience for participants but also served as a qualifying event for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships, set to take place in the Netherlands next October. Riders finishing within the top 25% of their age and gender categories earned automatic qualification, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

The event underscored the growing popularity of gravel racing, attracting cyclists from various backgrounds and skill levels, all eager to test their endurance and skills on the rugged terrain. The Hegau region, known for its stunning landscapes and challenging routes, proved to be the perfect backdrop for this high-stakes competition.
