Meyer and Federspiel Dominate 44th Ötztaler Radmarathon with Stunning Solo Victories

German cyclist Janine Meyer and Austrian MTB World Champion Daniel Federspiel each claimed solo victories at the 44th Ötztaler Radmarathon, one of Europe’s most grueling Granfondos. Meyer secured her third consecutive win, smashing the women’s course record, while Federspiel powered through the Tyrolean Alps to take the men’s title.

The race, spanning 227 kilometers and climbing over 5,500 meters through four legendary alpine passes—Kühtai, Brenner, Jaufenpass, and Timmelsjoch—challenged more than 4,200 cyclists who lined up in the picturesque town of Sölden, famously featured in the James Bond film Spectre. The demanding course tested every rider’s skill and stamina in the stunning yet punishing terrain of the Tyrol.

Federspiel launched a decisive attack from his breakaway group, crossing the finish line solo with a remarkable time of 6:48:55. Behind him, Austrian Jonas Holzknecht sprinted to second place at 6:52:26, followed closely by Swiss rider Matthias Reutimann.

“This race is a true test of grit and passion,” said Daniel Federspiel, “To solo to victory here, surrounded by such incredible competition and stunning landscapes, is an unforgettable experience. It’s an honor to win on hoame soil.”
