BMC Racing win opening Team Time Trial at Tirreno-Adriatico

BMC Racing team has won the opening stage Team Time Trial at Tirreno-Adriatico. Italian Damiano Caruso, took the leader's jersey.

The American squad completed the 21.5 kilometres course in Lido di Camaiore in a time of 22 minutes and 19 seconds.

Team Sky set the first fastest time in 22 minutes and 28 seconds but were removed from the leaders' hot seat by Mitchelton-Scott, which completed the course in 22 minutes and 23 seconds.

BMC Racing climbed to the first position by coming in at 22 minutes and 19 seconds.

Sunweb, the last team to start and the one that had the potential to win, finished in fifth position with a time of 22 minutes and 44 seconds.

The first rider to cross the finish line for BMC, Italian Damiano Caruso, took the leader's jersey on the first day of the race in his home country. His teammates Rohan Dennis and Patrick Bevin were second and third.
