Bauke Mollema to lead Trek-Segafredo at the 102nd edition of the Giro d'Italia
Trek-Segafredo announces lineup for the 102nd Giro d'Italia that starts on Saturday, May 11 in Bologna and finishes on Sunday, June 2nd in Verona
Dutch climber Bauke Mollema will lead the team and is highly motivated for a great result: "I am looking forward to my third Giro. My preparations have gone well and I am confident that I have a strong team around me to help me and push me to my highest level."
Mollema will be seconded by Gianluca Brambilla (ITA), Giulio Ciccone (ITA), Will Clarke (AUS), Nicola Conci (ITA), Michael Gogl (AUT), Markel Irizar (ESP) and Matteo Moschetti (ITA).
2019 Race
The 2019 Giro d’Italia will cover 3518.5 km across its 21 stages, with 58km of time trialling split between three stages.
Albeit with quite a lot of longer stages in terms of kilometres, the first ten days of racing don’t offer any major climbing challenges so we will have to be patient for the real general classification battle to begin.
Organisers claim that with 46,500m of total elevation, the 102nd edition will be one of the hardest routes of recent years. With most of that coming packed neatly into the second half of racing, it’ll be then that the real battle begins.
