Cannondale-Drapac targets Tour of Utah general classification defense

Defending champion Joe Dombrowski headlines a strong Cannondale-Drapac squad seeking its fourth straight general classification title at Tour of Utah.

Dombrowski is one of five Americans lining up for Cannondale-Drapac in Utah.

The 25-year-old is joined by Andrew Talansky, Ben King, Nate Brown and Phil Gaimon. Italian Alberto Bettiol and British stagiaire Jon Dibben round out the squad for the seven-day stage race.

Interview with Brent Bookwalter Ahead of the Summer Olympic Games

Brent Bookwalter will soon be making his first appearance representing the United States at the Summer Olympic Games. Here are his thoughts before he departs for Rio this weekend.

Residing in Asheville, North Carolina, Brent is a professional cyclist riding for the BMC Racing Team, in 2016 Brent placed 3rd Overall in the Tour of California.

He is co-founder of the Bookwalter Binge, a nonprofit Gran Fondo cycling event which is donating all 2016 proceeds to benefit the Southern Appalachian Highland Conservancy.

A Total of 26 Countries represented by 122 Riders in “America’s Toughest Stage Race”.

The preliminary rosters have been confirmed for the 16 men’s teams competing at the weeklong 2016 Larry H. Miller Tour of Utah, Aug. 1-7.

The stage race boasts an all-star field of national champions and Grand Tour stage winners.

Haute Route translates to “High Road”.The concept is the highest, toughest and most prestigious amateur stage race in the world. Next year see’s Haute Route coming to the U.S. with the inaugural running of the Mavic Haute Route Rockies 2017, which is limited to only 600 riders and is expected to sell out well in advance of its date of 24th – 30th June.

Once again blessed by Mother Nature with awesome weather albeit very tough ride conditions.

Gran Fondo Ottawa would like to extend special thanks to Team Breathe from the Ontario Lung Association for their superb efforts - Route Crews marking the roads - Feed Station Management - Event Staging and their proficiency with the registration.

With so many riders returning as late as 6PM, our timer from Eco Chrono was not able to tear down the last Time Trial section [#4] and return to the venue until almost 7PM.

Astana threatens to take legal action after accusations of mechanical doping

After Nibali crashed in yesterday’s Tour de France stage, Vincenzo Nibali has been accused of mechanical doping and Astana threatens to take legal action.

Nibali crashed on the descent and as images show how his wheel keeps turning, some have accused him of mechnical doping. The same happened for Ryder Hesjedal in the Vuelta two years ago.

Overall nearly 1,000 cyclists took part in the USAC State Hill Climb Championship and the open Gran Fondo.

Farm to Fork Fondo Bicycle Event Draws Over 450 Cyclists to Central Vermont

Last Sunday, over 450 cyclists set out on a farm-to-table bicycle ride through Central Vermont, stopping at nine local farms to refuel with chef-prepared food made with ingredients from the farms. The event, Farm to Fork Fondo – Vermont, is a recreational ride that draws athletes of all abilities.

Former Olympians, Tour de France riders, and the Colavita-Bianchi Women’s Pro Cycling Team rode alongside a mix of casual and competitive cycling enthusiasts throughout the day.

Farm to Fork Fondo contributed over $3,000 to local non-profit organizations that collectively sent over 60 volunteers to support riders at gourmet aid stations along the course.

Mark your calendars, the next edition of Farm to Fork Fondo – Vermont is set to be held July 16, 2017.

SLO Gran Fondo 2016 Offers Three Breathtaking Courses

Third edition presented by VisitAvilaBeach.com set for October 29-30 showcases the spectacular Central Californian Coast with three timed routes from 25 up to 100 miles and includes the King & Queen of the Mountains competition.

The SLO Gran Fondo  features author, commentator and former professional Bob “Bobke” Roll returning as its host along with Pro Panel commentator Bob Stapleton of USA Cycling and Team HTC.
