Two cyclists who were participating in the Granfondo Torino, died of cardiac arrest. The incidences took part between Chieri and Pino Torinese.

The first cyclist, 67 year old Bruno Tribolo from Pinerolo, was rescued by the medical staff in the race support service vehicle. "Despite the timely intervention of the rescuers and the long attempts at resuscitation carried out by the medical staff on site and during emergency transport, there was nothing to do for him.

The second cyclist, 61 year old Fabrizio Fiori from Collegno, was taken to Molinette hospital by regional helicopter rescue service. The staff immediately began resuscitation, which continued throughout the transport, but he died shortly after.

The Granfondo Torino organizers immediately issued a statement "During the event, two athletes suffered severe medical emergencies. Despite the prompt response of emergency services and extensive resuscitation efforts by medical personnel on site and during emergency transport, one of the two participants could not be saved."

"As a sign of deep respect and sorrow for this tragic loss, GS Alpi announced the immediate suspension of all celebratory activities. In this moment of immense grief, the sporting aspect loses all relevance."

"The entire organization extends a heartfelt embrace to the victim’s family and awaits, with great anxiety, updates on the condition of the second athlete involved, who is currently hospitalized in intensive care."
