GFNY Mexico City

March 25 2018
Mexico City, Mexico

GFNY cycling is coming to Mexico City! Be a Pro for a Day on either a 130 kilometer course (3038 meters of climbing) or a 100 kilometer course (2129 meter of climbing).

Both routes start in front of the most iconic monument in Mexico: the Angel of independence on Reforma Avenue. From there, you will ride through terrain that is as challenging as it is beautiful. Keeping with the true Italian spirit of Gran Fondo racing, at GFNY Mexico City the roads are fully closed exclusively for you, you are chip timed from start to finish and you will receive your overall as well as age group result based on your finish time. The day will end with an awards ceremony and big prizes plus a party atmosphere.

GFNY Mexico City serves as the qualifier for the GFNY Championship on May 21, 2017 in New York City.

The Gran Fondo route is a ride that is challenging as it is breathtaking.  You will start your adventure in front of the Angel of Independance one of Mexico's most iconic landmarks. The beginning is a flat 20km ride to get your legs warmed up and ready for the climbing. Once we hit the climbs you will be impressed at how beautiful the nature is around Mexico City and how the climbing is first class and very similar to the climbing you see in the major european races with views that make you feel your not in a city at all.

There are three symbolic climbs equaling 3038 meters (9967ft) in total with an average gradient of 3.6%.  After you finish the last climb on top of the Ajusco you will have a short downhill section with a 500 meter flat sprint to the finish line.  Expect to see all your family and friends cheering you as you pass the finish like and that great sensation of being a pro for a day.
