Geerike Schreurs and Cameron Jones take overall Victory at 2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race

The 2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race unfolded over five unforgettable days, tracing a counterclockwise loop around the Oregon Cascades and delivering every terrain, challenge, and emotion the event is known for. From the volcanic dust of Sisters to the deep forests of Oakridge, from the brutal ascents of Wolf Mountain to the celebratory roll into Bend, this year’s edition produced clear champions not through isolated brilliance, but through consistency, resilience, and smart racing across all five stages.

MORE PHOTOS COMING SHORTLY!!!

Geerike Schreurs and Cameron Jones take overall Victory at 2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race

The week began with speed and chaos on the fast, descending roads from Sisters to McKenzie. Cameron Jones immediately stamped his authority on the Pioneer Men’s GC, soloing to victory and establishing a lead he would never relinquish. Cameron Jones soloed to the finish, powering away from the Pioneer men’s field. In the Pioneer Women’s race, Geerike Schreurs edged out Karolina Migon in a dramatic sprint decided by fractions of a second, a preview of the tight battles that would define their week. Settler categories saw early strength from Chris Drape, Daniel & Lincoln Weiler, and Jill Cederholm Mairs, each setting the tone for their respective GC fights.

Stage 2 brought the first major GC shake-ups with the Dead Mountain climb, a brutal 1,500-foot ascent that forced contenders to show their true form. Ian Boswell delivered a commanding win, powering up the climb to take the stage ahead of Peter Stetina and Jones, tightening the GC gap but not overturning the deficit created on Stage 1. In the women’s Pioneer field, Karolina Migon climbed away from Schreurs and Shafi to take the stage, Karolina Migon continued her dominant form, climbing away… to claim a stage win. The Settler fields saw Jill Cederholm Mairs take her second consecutive win, while Daniel & Lincoln Weiler extended their Tag Team lead. GC positions began to crystallize: Jones still led, but Boswell and Stetina were now clearly in the hunt; Schreurs remained steady despite Migon’s surge; and in the Settler fields, Opersteny, Brasch, and Snider were emerging as the most consistent riders.

Stage 3 shifted the tone entirely with Oakridge Enduro Day, a short but decisive test of skill and nerve. Hayden Christian won the Pioneer Men’s timed segments, with Jones close behind, preserving his GC lead through sharp, controlled descending. Schreurs dominated the Pioneer Women’s enduro, winning the day and reinforcing her growing GC advantage. In the Settler fields, Matt Walczak and Lynn Barlik took wins, but the GC remained defined by consistency rather than stage victories. Riders enjoyed the cultural heart of Oregon Trail Gravel—tacos, salmon, and Sasquatch stories—before turning their attention to the Queen Stage.

Stage 4 delivered the decisive blows of the week. Nearly 90 miles and close to 11,000 feet of climbing reshaped the GC across all categories. Boswell attacked Wolf Mountain with authority, winning the Pioneer Men’s Queen Stage and cutting further into Jones’ lead, but not enough to overturn the damage from Stage 1. Schreurs delivered one of the most dominant rides of the entire event, climbing with precision and opening a gap that never looked threatened. In the Settler Men’s race, Edward Dudlik produced a standout ride to win the stage, while Lance Heppler and the Weiler duo kept the GC tight behind Brasch. The Settler Women’s Queen Stage belonged to Heidi Werner, but the GC was defined by Esther Opersteny’s steady, controlled climbing, which positioned her perfectly for the final day.

Stage 5 brought the celebratory ride into Bend, a day defined more by camaraderie than by GC battles. The only real test came early on Ringo Road, where Tobias Mørch Kongstad accelerated sharply to win the Pioneer Men’s stage, with Piotr Havik and Cassius Anderson finishing within seconds. The Pioneer Women produced one of the closest finishes of the week, with Schreurs and Shafi crossing the line separated by less than a second, reinforcing Schreurs’ dominance across all terrain. Settler Men saw Heppler and Dudlik finish together, while Claire Reinert took the Settler Women’s stage win with a smooth, controlled ride.

By the time riders rolled into 7th Mountain Resort, the GC stories were clear. Cameron Jones had won the Pioneer Men’s overall through unmatched consistency—one stage win, one second place, and never finishing outside the top eight. Boswell’s two stage wins made him the strongest climber of the week, but the early deficit proved too large to overcome. Peter Stetina’s steady top-five finishes secured third. In the Pioneer Women’s field, Schreurs delivered one of the most dominant performances in Oregon Trail history, winning four of five stages and finishing second on the only day she didn’t win. Migon’s climbing strength earned her second overall, while Jennifer Tave’s consistency placed her third.

The Settler Men’s GC belonged to Alex Brasch, who never won a stage but never faltered, finishing inside the top five every day and building a GC victory on pure steadiness. Evan Rudd and Danny Fisher climbed steadily into second and third. In the Settler Women’s field, Esther Opersteny claimed overall victory through her strength on the Queen Stage and her ability to defend that lead on the final day, with Taylor Snider and Alison Sattler rounding out the podium.

Across all categories, the riders who won the week were those who mastered the balance between aggression and restraint. Schreurs won the most stages—four in total—while Boswell and Jill Cederholm Mairs each claimed two. But the GC belonged to those who combined brilliance with consistency: Jones, Schreurs, Brasch, and Opersteny. Five days of racing, thousands of feet climbed, and countless memories made—this was Oregon Trail Gravel at its finest, a celebration of grit, community, and the wild beauty of the Cascades.

2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race Stage 5: The Final Ride to Bend

2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race Stage 5: The Final Ride to Bend

After four days of adventure, challenge, and unforgettable memories, Stage 5 delivered the perfect finale to the Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race. With just one meaningful climb and a net loss of roughly 500 feet, the final ride into Bend felt like a well-earned victory lap—what riders affectionately call the Champs-Élysées of the Grand Tour of Gravel. Spirits were high, legs were tired, and the mood across both Pioneer and Settler fields was celebratory as riders rolled out for their last day on course.

The only real test of the morning arrived early with the Ringo Road climb, an 800-foot ascent beginning around mile five. It was here that the front groups began to take shape. In the Pioneer Men’s field, Tobias Mørch Kongstad set the tone with a sharp acceleration that carried him over the top and into the decisive move of the day. Piotr Havik matched the pace and held tight all the way to Bend, finishing just a fraction of a second behind, while Cassius Anderson delivered a brilliant ride to secure third in a tightly contested sprint among the leaders.

The Pioneer Women’s race produced one of the closest finishes of the week. Geerike Schreurs and Alia Shafi climbed Ringo Road shoulder-to-shoulder and remained locked together for nearly the entire stage, crossing the line separated by less than a second. Karolina Migon was only moments behind, completing a fiercely competitive top three that showcased the depth and strength of the women’s Pioneer field.

Among the Settler Men, Lance Heppler and Edward Dudlik rode the entire day as a united front, cresting Ringo Road together and maintaining their shared pace all the way to Bend. Their identical finishing times reflected the camaraderie and spirit of the final stage. Behind them, Matt Walczak powered through the rolling terrain to secure third, rounding out a podium defined by consistency and smart pacing.

The Settler Women’s race saw Claire Reinert take command early, climbing smoothly and opening a gap she would hold to the finish. Staci Patton rode a steady, controlled stage to secure second, while Jill Cederholm Mairs delivered another strong performance to claim third and close out her week on a high note.

The final half-mile into 7th Mountain Resort added one last touch of Oregon Trail character, winding through a mix of singletrack and doubletrack before riders emerged into the finishing chute. Waiting for them was everything they had earned over five unforgettable days—great food, cold drinks, music, friends, and the satisfaction of completing one of gravel cycling’s most iconic adventures. Stage 5 wasn’t about breaking the race apart; it was about celebrating the journey, the effort, and the community that makes Oregon Trail Gravel unlike any other event.

2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race Stage 4: The Queen Stage

2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race Stage 4: The Queen Stage

Stage 4 lived up to its reputation as the Queen Stage of the Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race, delivering nearly 90 miles and close to 11,000 feet of climbing as riders crossed the Cascade Range and finished more than 3,000 feet above where they started. With Wolf Mountain’s Hors Catégorie ascent setting the tone early, followed by the punishing ramps of Hemlock Butte and Gilchrist, the day became a true test of endurance, pacing, and resilience.

In the Pioneer Men’s field, Ian Boswell stamped his authority on the race with a decisive move on Wolf Mountain, climbing away from the field and holding his advantage all the way to the finish. Behind him, Hayden Christian rode a measured, disciplined stage to secure second, while Tobias Mørch Kongstad showed his European climbing pedigree to take third after fending off a tight chase group.

The Pioneer Women’s race saw a commanding performance from Geerike Schreurs, who climbed with precision and opened a gap that never looked under threat. Karolina Migon paced the Queen Stage intelligently to secure second, while Alia Shafi continued her breakout week with a strong ride into third, holding off pressure from behind over the final climbs.

In the Settler Men’s category, Edward Dudlik delivered one of the standout rides of the day, attacking early and maintaining a relentless pace across the Cascades to take the win. Lance Heppler used his experience to ride steady and secure second, while Daniel and Lincoln Weiler produced a remarkable father-son effort to claim third with coordinated pacing that kept them ahead of the solo chasers.

The Settler Women’s race was shaped by a dominant ride from Heidi Werner, who handled the Queen Stage with total control and steadily built a gap throughout the day. Jill Cederholm Mairs managed her effort perfectly on the major climbs to finish second, and Kat Hampton fought through the toughest gradients to secure third and solidify her position among the strongest riders in the category.

Stage 4 reshaped the GC battles across Pioneer and Settler fields, and with the Queen Stage behind them, riders now turn their focus toward the final push to Bend.

2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race Stage 3: Oakridge Enduro Day

2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race Stage 3: Oakridge Enduro Day

Stage 3 brought riders to Oakridge for the signature Enduro Day, a fan-favorite format that trades long mileage and massive climbs for short, sharp timed segments and some of the most playful riding of the entire week. With just 27 total miles and 10 miles of timed racing, Friday offered a welcome mental reset — but nobody mistook it for an easy day. The Enduro format created plenty of opportunities to gain or lose time, and riders attacked the descents with precision, confidence, and style.

Despite the shorter racing, the day was packed with highlights. The trails around Oakridge delivered fast, flowing singletrack and technical features that rewarded skill and bravery. Riders sharpened their handling, kept their legs fresh, and enjoyed one of the most relaxed — yet still competitive — days of the event.

Off the bike, Friday delivered some of Oregon Trail Gravel’s most beloved traditions. The Snack Shack Taco Bar returned in full force, serving up legendary post-ride tacos that have become a cultural cornerstone of the race. Later in the evening, riders gathered for Spin Catering’s famous salmon and tri-tip dinner, a feast that has earned near-mythical status among past participants.

The festivities continued into the night with the Sasquatch Summer Fest, where celebrity guest speakers from around the world shared stories, sightings, and theories about the elusive creature said to roam the forests of the Pacific Northwest. It was the perfect blend of racing, community, and Oregon Trail magic.

2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race Stage 2: McKenzie to Oakridge

2026-oregon-trail-stage2

Stage 2 returned riders to the smooth, fast gravel roads of the Willamette National Forest, a terrain where fitness, sustained power, and smart pacing mattered far more than technical finesse. With a jagged elevation profile and long stretches of uninterrupted pedaling, this was the day when the racing truly began to take shape. The field settled into the rhythm of the event, and the first meaningful time gaps started to open.

The highlight of the day — and one of the most decisive moments of the entire week — was the Dead Mountain Climb, Oregon Trail Gravel’s first true mountaintop finish. Riders faced 1,500 feet of elevation gain in just 3.4 miles, with brutal pitches approaching 20 percent. It was here that contenders made their moves, and the general classification began to crystallize.

In the Pioneer men’s race, Ian Boswell delivered a commanding performance, powering up Dead Mountain and taking the Stage 2 victory ahead of Peter Stetina and Cameron Jones, who both climbed strongly to secure their podium spots. The women’s Pioneer field saw Karolina Migon continue her dominant form, climbing away from Geerike Schreurs and Alia Shafi to claim another stage win.

The Settler categories produced equally fierce racing. Daniel & Lincoln Weiler extended their lead in the Tag Team division, while Chris Drape and Matt Walczak put in standout rides on the climb. In the Settler women’s field, Jill Cederholm Mairs shone again, conquering Dead Mountain with authority to secure her second consecutive stage win.

Stage 2 was fast, decisive, and unforgiving — the kind of day that defines the Oregon Trail Gravel and sets the tone for the battles still to come.

2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race Stage 1: Sisters to McKenzie

2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race Stage 1: Sisters to McKenzie

The 2026 Oregon Trail Gravel Stage Race returned to its classic counterclockwise loop around the Oregon Cascades, kicking off once again in Sisters before sending riders straight into the heart of the high desert. Stage 1 delivered everything the Oregon Trail is known for: fast roads, volcanic dust, towering pines, and the infamous Santiam Sandbox, which made its unwelcome return and immediately reminded riders why this race is considered one of the toughest multi-day gravel challenges in North America.

Despite the Sandbox’s deep sand traps and energy-sapping stretches, the opening stage was built for speed. With more than 2,000 feet of net elevation loss and nearly 60% smooth, fast gravel, Stage 1 set the tone for a quick and aggressive start to the week. Riders ripped through the forest roads before descending toward the McKenzie River corridor, where the Day 1 campsite offered cold water, shade, and a perfect place to wash off the dust after an epic first day.

The racing ignited early. Cameron Jones soloed to the finish, powering away from the Pioneer men’s field and claiming Stage 1 ahead of Caleb Swartz and Griffin Easter, who rounded out the top three after a tight chase behind. In the Pioneer women’s race, Geerike Schreurs and Karolina Migon battled shoulder-to-shoulder all the way to the line, with Schreurs edging ahead in a dramatic finish decided by fractions of a second. Behind them, Lauren De Crescenzo led the chase, securing third.

The Settler field saw equally strong performances, with Chris Drape, Daniel & Lincoln Weiler, and Mario Mendez topping the men’s standings, while Jill Cederholm Mairs, Kat Hampton, and Staci Patton led the women’s results.

Stage 1 delivered everything riders love about the Oregon Trail: speed, suffering, scenery, and the promise of four more days of adventure.
