The Niseko course rewarded riders who could hold high power on rolling terrain while maintaining aerodynamic discipline. Hochstrasser and Wolos emerged as the undisputed fastest riders of the day, setting times that would stand competitive even at elite-level UCI events.
 
Poland shone brightly in the women’s field, while Austria, the Netherlands, and Germany delivered the standout performances among the men.
 
The 2026 Time Trial showcased not only age-group excellence but also world-class speed — proving once again why the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships remain the pinnacle of amateur racing.
 
While dozens of champions were crowned throughout the day, three men and three women stood out above the rest — posting the fastest times of the entire event.
 
Men’s Overall Fastest Times
 
Daniel Hochstrasser (Austria) — 17:42.40
Hochstrasser produced the fastest ride of the day, stopping the clock at 17:42.40 and averaging a blistering 50.84 km/h. His performance set the benchmark for every category — a masterclass in pacing and power.
 
Glenn Van Nierop (Netherlands) — 17:53.91
Just seconds behind, Van Nierop delivered a superb ride at 50.32 km/h, securing the second-fastest time overall. His aerodynamic efficiency and consistency kept him in contention for the top spot throughout the course.
 
Julian Braun (Germany) — 17:56.33
Braun rounded out the men’s top three with 17:56.33, averaging 50.18 km/h. His ride was smooth, controlled, and powerful — enough to place him among the elite performers of the day.
 
Women’s Overall Fastest Times
 
Ewelina Wolos (Poland) — 20:17.87
Wolos dominated the women’s field with a winning time of 20:17.87, averaging 44.37 km/h. Her ride was the fastest female performance of the entire championship — a commanding display of strength and precision.
 
Hayley Simmonds (Great Britain) — 20:23.85
Simmonds, known for her time-trial pedigree, delivered a powerful effort at 44.15 km/h, securing the second-fastest women’s time. Her pacing was textbook — steady, efficient, and relentless.
 
Ewelina Miernik (Poland) — 20:33.14
Miernik completed the women’s top three with 20:33.14, averaging 43.79 km/h. Her ride reinforced Poland’s dominance in the female categories, with two riders placing in the overall top three.
