MSU's Grand Fondo takes over downtown Grand Rapids

1,500 cyclists participated in MSU's Gran Fondo ride Saturday. It's put on by Michigan State's College of Human Medicine and is a fundraiser for skin cancer awareness, and prevention.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI. 1500 cyclists participated in MSU's Gran Fondo ride on Saturday.

It's put on by Michigan State's College of Human Medicine and is a fundraiser for skin cancer awareness, and prevention.

The longest route was 80 miles and there were 40 and 25 mile options as well.

The winner of the top fundraiser gets a 6,000 dollar carbon trek bike. The money is raised through pledges and every dollar raised goes to skin cancer research at the MSU's College of Human Medicine in Grand Rapids.

Cyclists came from as far as Nevada and Florida to take part in the race.
