5th Annual Bluewater International Granfondo Registration is Open

Ontario’s Number #1 Gran Fondo is scheduled for August 2, 2020 along the sunny shores of Lake Huron

The exciting fifth annual Bluewater International Granfondo welcomes cyclists to the Lambton County’s Bluewaterland, starting and finishing in the City of Sarnia’s beautiful Mike Weir Park. The BIGF is part personal challenge and part serious competition.

There are four routes of 30 (for families), 50, 100, and 150 km available to suit all abilities of cyclists from all of which will take in some outstanding views of Lambton County including finishing along the stunning shores of Lake Huron.

There is no start to finish time as in traditional racing formats but rather timed sections that count toward the rider’s competition time. This means you can take your time between race sections, stop at the Fuel Stations and regroup to enjoy the ride with your friends and teammates.

At the finish a hot meal and beverage awaits you as well as finisher medals. You can cool off with a refreshing swim in Lake Huron prior to relaxing to live music, while enjoying a well-deserved beer or soft drink along with some very tasty food.
It is a must do for both cycling enthusiasts and first timers!

Supporting the best local Palliative Care

The Bluewater International Granfondo supports Palliative Care Education for front line workers at Bluewater Health Palliative Care and St. Joseph’s Hospice as well as nurses and support workers within the community of Sarnia Lambton.

In 2019 the B.I.G. raised over $60,000 and in four years the event has raised over $200,000 dollars.

In September 2019 B.I.G. funded the 2nd Palliative Care retreat in Grand Bend which again was an overwhelming success and included world renowned speakers such as Dr Eduardo Bruera.

BIG continues to host the Ontario First Responder Road Cycling Championships

BIG is proud to again host Ontario First Responders Road Cycling Championship (OFRRCC).The OFRRCC will give First Responders an opportunity to showcase their dedication to the sport of cycling, while taking part in a terrific community event. The OFRRCC is open to active and retired sworn and civilian members of the police, fire and paramedic communities.

The unique format of the Championship allows the riders to enjoy a casual ride or “ride to win”. Within the 100km route, there are three timed sections which can be raced for the championship. The winners will be riders who finish the 100km route and post the fastest cumulative time in the three sections. Only the sections are timed, so riders can re-group, ride together, and enjoy the support of the Bluewater International Granfondo. Within the 100km, are three timed sections (7km, 2km and 9km) during which you can race for the Championship.

Since, its inception, the Bluewater International Granfondo has SOLD OUT well in advance, entries have increased to 1,000 places. The remaining places are now limited!
To avoid disappointment, register now before prices increase on December 31st.

Participants who have registered before May 31st will receive entry into 2 draws for “7 nights for two people” coupon which can be used at the Lungomare Bike Hotel in Ceenatico in Italy or Garda Bike Hotel, Lake Garda, Italy in 2020. (Conditions apply).

All registered will also be entered into a draw for A Pinarello Mercurio T2 Hydro
