Three Great So-Cal rides to start the New Year!
It's a tradition to get out and ride on New Year's Day and cyclists in Southern California never had it so good
There's three really great rides that take place that attract hundreds of cyclists.
For those looking for a flatter ride, the Long Beach New Year's Day Ride is one for you. The New Years Day Ride bicycle ride in Long Beach has been a tradition for cyclists over the years looking to ring in the New Year. It starts in Long Beach and cruises south down the PCH, picking up riders along the way expanding into a colorful pack of 400 or so riders. The ride starts off slow and friendly and increases speed near Huntington Beach. The ride continues south to Dana Point, at which point you can double back on PCH or head inland and loop back to the start. Approximately 90 miles for the entire bike ride
For those looking to test their climbing legs, the annual Mt. Wilson New Years Day Bike Ride will go for the 47th year in a row! The annual Mt. Wilson New Years Day promises to reach new heights this (next) year, since Angeles Crest is finally open, you will be able to go all the way to Mt Wilson. More than 100 plus riders are expected to begin their attempt to climb to the 5700′ summit nearly 40 miles away.
Today marks the start of Neil Shirley's 4 Days To Fitness from Friday, December 29th through Monday, January 1st, logging miles around Santa Clarita Valley as thy've done for the past handful of years. The rides are about getting in social miles and there will be an opportunity to stretch the legs. The rides range from 45 to 76 miles.
