Piedmont College Cycling Team target Georgia Gran Fondo Team Award
USAC Collegiate National Champion cyclist Erica Allar to lead Piedmont Team
Recent USAC Collegiate National Champion Erica Allar is a Master’s student at Piedmont focusing on early childhood education. Her main goal as part of Piedmont’s cycling program is to give the young varsity team some growth
She will be leading a team of four riders at the Georgia Gran Fondo as part of her training block prior to the Women’s Tour of California starting May 11th, with Pro women’s cycling team Rally Cycling.
Demorest Georgia local, Dylan Cantrell who graduated from Habersham HS year is part of the team line up. He is defending Georgia State Champion and won the Collegiate Men’s A and Pro 1/2/3 race at Clemson University this year.
William Wilhelm is a dual athlete who also competes for Piedmont’s cross country running team but joined the Piedmont College Cycling program because he’s competed in triathlons. Conley raced his first ever criterium this February.
Both Dylan and Conley are undergrad students.
About the Georgia Gran Fondo
The 2017 edition on May 7th, starts and finishes in downtown Helen under the shadow of the mountains made famous by the Tour de Georgia.
The event has three distances to suit all abilities 30, 60 and 100 miles and is a fun ride for everyone, with the addition of timed sections where cyclists can compete for prizes and awards across a range of age categories for both men and women and a team category.

About Piedmont Cycling Team
This is only the team first year (2nd semester) in existence as a varsity cycling program but they have a great support system from Piedmont College in Georgia. The school has been fantastic and they’ve had a lot of great success, most recently winning our first ever national title on the road.
You don’t have to be an elite level rider to be part of Piedmont College cycling program. They roster A, B, C and D category riders of all abilities.
