Sagan wins his second BinckBank Stage
World Champion Peter Sagan powered home to beat all his rivals on the line in Ardooie in Belgium today
The World Champion outsprinted Edward Theuns and Rudy Barbier on the line to take his second stage at this BinckBank tour and his 99th career victory.
The stage started with an early breakaway being established with five riders; F. Backaer, S. Cordeel, P. Allegaert, E. Reinders, K. Koren.
With 115 kms to go the breakawy gainined a maximum lead of around 3 mins and 20 seconds, before th peloton decided it was time to chase.
With 65 kms to go the gap was down to 1m 50 secs and kept falling until the breakaway was finally reeled in after the golden kilometre with around 8 kms to go.
The sprinters teams lined up on the final lap of the finishing course. In the closing kilometres there was a crash involving mainly riders from Cannondale-Drapac, with one rider hitting a drain cover.
In the final it was Sagan the world champion who powered to victory.
Stage 4 in the BinckBack Tour offers a last chance for the Sprinters, as the final three stages are hilly.
