VIDEO: Team Sky Practice Marginal Traffic Gains Down Under
Several Team Sky riders were pulled over by police in Adelaide for running red lights and failing to give way
More contraversey for Team Sky, as their Tour Down Under riders were pulled over and given a warning by police in Adelaide’s city centre ahead of the Tour Down Under (TDU), which starts this weekend.
A photo and now video has been posted online that showed the UCI WorldTour outfit's riders standing sheepishly by the side of the road, and given verbal warnings for bad conduct.
A spokesman for the police said members of the UK-registered team had “allegedly failed to give way at a pedestrian crossing and went through a red light … that sort of thing.” He added: “As part of Operation Safe Cycling 2018 police officers spoke to a number of cyclists on Pulteney Street in the Adelaide CBD this morning after identifying a number of traffic offences committed by the group”
“Police stop cyclist all the time but obviously there will be a further emphasis during the Tour Down Under period. It was just a verbal warning today” he added.
This comes just after the squad named its younger line up for the Tour Down Under.
