VIDEO: Belgian Michiel Minnaert wins 2018 Look Marmotte Gran Fondo Alps
Over 8,000 riders had near perfect conditions in the French Alps, Michiel Minnaert from Belgium finished 1m 45s ahead up the final climb of Alpe d‘Huez
Michiel finished the Gran Fondo in an amazing time of 5h 39m and 39 secs. The fastest times were dominated by Belgian and French riders. The fastest lady was Ils Van Der Moeren from Belgium, in an incredble time of 6h 28m and 9 secs.
The Gran Fondo contains the challenging of climbs the Glandon, Télégraphe, Galibier and Alpe d’Huez with around 5,000m of climbing. It can take some riders up to 11 hours to complete, such is the difficulty!
Whether they aim for a certain time or just to be able to finish, every participant leaves Alpe d’Huez with a satisfying feeling knowing they have conquered this challenge.
The vast majority of participants come from abroad, over 88% or around 6,600 international cyclists.
