Phil Gaimon wins Podium Puppy at Super Fun Fondo Weekend!
Gaimon crowned 2019 World and American Hillclimb Champion - vows "to eat more cookies"
Santa Barbara, Sunny Sunny California - Friday October 26 - Star of "Worst Retirement Ever" Phil Gaimon collected his new 2019 Hillclimb World Championship Jersey (made by Castelli) in the Mens Pro Open category.
Gaimon, "supposedly retired", narrowly beat current Trek-Segafredo pro Peter Stetina and James Walker up the infamous climb of Gibraltar Road. The list of stars lining up at Phil's Fun Fondo Weekend included; Latvian "potato lover" Tom Skujinš, Tim Johnson, Jessie Anthony, Abby Mickey, actor Michael Muhney and some guy called Fankie Andreu - to name just a few!
The top ten in the Mens Pro Open category included some other past and present legends of the sport including Ned Overend.
But it wasn't just the top guys who raced up Gibraltar, there was loads of categories, although we don't think there was a "just in your pants" category, as one rider took weight shaving to new extremes.
Other categories included Chefs, Womens Open pro, Tandems, Fixed Gear, Juniors, Over 70's and Clydesdale categories.
