David Millar to ride the inaugural Maserati Haute Route Norway
Maserati GB cycling ambassador and former professional cyclist David Millar will be taking part in this inaugural edition
The final countdown is on. There is only a month to go before the inaugural Maserati Haute Route Norway gets underway in the beautiful Stavanger region. With a total of 304km and 5380m of climbing over three days, it promises to be a memorable long-weekend of cycling through the gorgeous Fjords along the western coast of Norway.
A winner of multiple stages on all three of the grand tours and the only Briton to have worn all Tour de France jerseys, Millar’s professional cycling career spanned from 1997 to 2014.
Taking part in his first Haute Route, Millar will be riding all three stages of the event alongside the hundreds of amateur cycling enthusiasts who will have travelled to Norway from across the globe.
“I can’t wait to experience the Haute Route in all its glory,” said Millar of his participation next month. "It will be really interesting as the event provides the same mechanical and team support that I had as a professional, as well as the post-race massages and briefings before each stage.
Getting to experience that alongside so many cycling enthusiasts in the beautiful Stavanger region is something I am really looking forward to”.
On top of riding the three stages, Millar will also lead a Q&A session on the evening of stage 2, where participants will get some insights from his experiences as a professional. On the final day, he will also be present to hand over the prizes to the overall winners of the event in both the male and female categories.
With the inaugural edition just a month away, there are still a limited number of spaces available on the start line if you would like to join hundreds of riders in this amazing experience in the Norwegian fjords. Registrations close at the end of the month.
