Victoria Stansfield and Baptiste Lombardi Take Victory at the 2026 Marmotte Granfondo Alpes

The Marmotte Granfondo Alpes once again proved why it is regarded as the toughest one-day cyclosportive in Europe outside the Tour de France. More than 6,000 riders took on the legendary Alpine route, a 177-kilometre pilgrimage featuring the Col du Glandon, Col du Télégraphe, Col du Galibier, Col du Lautaret and the iconic summit finish atop Alpe d’Huez. With 5,000 metres of climbing, the Marmotte remains a badge of honour for anyone who reaches the top.

Baptiste Lombardi (Prizm Racing) delivered the defining ride of his season, conquering Alpe d’Huez in 5:38:20 after a dominant display of climbing strength. Already victorious at Gran Fondo Provence Occitane earlier in the year, Lombardi confirmed his status as France’s premier gran fondo climber, riding clear of a strong French chase that included Axel Hardy-Lainé (Team Materiel-Velo.com) and two-time European Gran Fondo Champion Thibaut Clément (Team Materiel-Velo.com). Clément, one of the sport’s most accomplished Alpine specialists, produced another high-level performance but could not match Lombardi’s decisive acceleration when the gradients steepened. Dutch rider Tijn Voerman (Independent Elite Amateur) added further depth to the podium battle, finishing alongside Robin Bourdier (Prizm Racing) after another impressive Alpine showing.

In the women’s race, Britain’s Victoria Stansfield (Team Materiel-Velo.com) produced one of the standout performances of the entire event, winning in 6:29:32 and finishing an extraordinary 47th overall. A former ultra-runner who only turned to cycling in 2025, Stansfield has risen rapidly through the amateur ranks, already claiming victory at L’Étape du Tour Femmes last August. Her ride on Alpe d’Huez confirmed her as one of the most exciting new climbers in the sport.

Behind her, former GFNY World Champion Samantha Arnaudo (Futura Nutrizionista Sportiva) secured second place, while France’s Nell Duvillard (Team Materiel-Velo.com) completed the podium after a strong ascent of the final climb. Canada’s Angélina Mireille (Team Canada Granfondo), third at Marmotte in 2025, delivered another consistent Alpine performance as she continues to establish herself among the top international Gran Fondo climbers.

The 45th edition of the Marmotte once again lived up to its reputation, delivering heat, altitude, suffering and unforgettable performances from riders across the world.

Lombardi and Stansfield leave Alpe d’Huez as the defining names of the 2026 Alpine summer.
